Skyfire acquired by Opera Software

Last week it was announced that Skyfire would become a part of Opera Software, operating as an independent subsidiary of a combined entity that will offer the best cloud-based technology for mobile network operators. Matrix has been working with the Skyfire team since 2007. As many will attest, working with carriers is not a particularly easy task, especially for startups. However, over the past six years we have seen this company succeed in tackling several Tier One mobile carriers. This is tremendous validation of not only their superior architecture and technology, but also of their determination and ability to execute.

Now, with carriers continuing to shift towards software-defined-networking and network function virtualization, Skyfire and Opera are uniquely positioned to advance their product offerings and move the mobile experience even further forward. There are tremendous synergies between the two companies and thanks to the collective resources, technology, and reach Skyfire will be able to bring its technology to carriers worldwide.

We would like to congratulate Jeff, Nitin, Erik and the team and we wish them the best of luck as they start the next chapter in this journey.

Andy V and the entire Matrix team: Many thanks for supporting our vision from the very early days and proving to be great thought partners in the last 6 years.
