Sumit Gupta

Sumit Gupta is a Vice President with Matrix India.  Prior to joining Matrix India, Sumit spent four years at McKinsey & Company in Delhi, Dubai and Silicon Valley.  At McKinsey he worked with senior management of leading global companies in technology, telecom, banking, consumer durables, and private equity on a range of strategic issues including sales and marketing, channel management, growth strategy and risk management.  Sumit was selected for a fellowship at the prestigious McKinsey Global Institute, McKinsey’s macroeconomic think-tank, where he led a key research study by McKinsey on India’s consumer markets.

Prior to McKinsey, Sumit was one of the youngest members at Sun Labs, the R&D arm of Sun Microsystems, where he developed cutting edge technologies in the Internet security and wireless space.  He was actively involved in standard setting bodies such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has published several papers and received a joint patent.  Sumit is passionate about launching businesses – he helped start an Internet security company during the dot com days and also co-founded a company focused on MBA recruiting while at business school.  Sumit started his career with a stint in the oil services industry with Schlumberger in Egypt.

Sumit holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, a Masters in Science with distinction from Texas A&M University, and a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur.
