Verivue OneVantage(TM) Content Delivery Solution delivers live streaming of famed Koshien, the Japan National High School Baseball ChampionshipNissho Electronics collaborates with NTT SMARTCONNECT and Verivue to provide live coverage for Asahi Broadcasting Corporation
October 18, 2011
Verivue announced today that Nissho Electronics and NTT SMARTCONNECT used its OneVantage Content Delivery Solution to deliver live streaming of the 93rd Japan National High School Baseball Championship that occurred in August 2011. Again this year, NTT SMARTCONNECT and Asahi Broadcasting Corporation have partnered to provide coverage of the championship tournament via Asahi Broadcasting Corporation’s website ( http://koshien.asahi.co.jp/ ). Implementation of the feature-rich OneVantage solution allowed NTT SMARTCONNECT to deploy massive live streaming capabilities.
NTT SMARTCONNECT utilized the OneVantage solution because of unmatched scale, flexibility, and ability to handle dramatic increases in traffic load. The Verivue solution features an open network virtualization platform, installed on commodity hardware, upon which CDN software modules can be deployed and managed easily. This flexible deployment model adapts quickly and effectively to meet changing bandwidth requirements. By leveraging cost-optimized COTS technology, CDN components are scaled independently for either storage or bandwidth capacity at any point within the network. Additionally, this COTS-based deployment model allows the caching infrastructure to scale linearly through the addition of nodes within a single cache instance.
“We are excited to announce that the Verivue OneVantage Content Delivery Solution has contributed to both NTT SMARTCONNECT and Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and their huge success with this year’s Koshien Tournament”, said Manabu Nitta, Group Leader of Product Marketing at Nissho Electronics. “By using the Verivue solution, operators can now deliver video to multiple devices such as PCs, Smartphones, and Tablets. We believe that making video content available to viewers outside of their homes is very important for operators and content owners, as well as for consumers. Also, Verivue’s highly scalable architecture allows Nissho to assist operators in creating new content delivery services while saving both CAPEX and OPEX.”
“Extending our partnership with Nissho Electronics to include the OneVantage Content Delivery Solution builds on our close involvement with Nissho, going back to early 2009,” said Jim Dolce, CEO, and Verivue. “With each phase of the partnership we grow stronger and increase our ability to bring the most flexible and scalable set of CDN solutions to Japan’s Network and Video Delivery Service Providers.”
