Tigo Energy Opens Israeli Office & Names Industry Veteran Modi Avrutsky To Oversee Operation

October 14, 2008

Los Gatos, CA – October 14, 2008, Tigo Energy, the solar company whose unique technology significantly increases efficiency in photovoltaic solar installations, announced the opening of its first international office. The facility which is in Kfar Saba, just outside of Tel Aviv, will focus on the company’s engineering activities in the power design domain.

According to CEO Sam Arditi, “Given Israel’s reputation in engineering and the refinement of sophisticated technology, setting up our power design operations in Kfar Saba was most logical.” He added, “Tigo is part of a critical global industry that will give both Israel and the United States a chance to lead, particularly in these uncertain financial times.”

Tigo has recruited Mordechay (Modi) Avrutsky to head the operation.  Avrutsky will serve as the VP Power Products R&D and site General Manager.

Industry veterans familiar with Avrutsky’s engineering and management track record applaud his appointment by the company whose founders are both Israeli-Americans with stellar reputations at successfully building businesses.

Mr. Avrutsky joins Tigo after a highly accomplished, twenty-three year tenure at Enercon Ltd. – a US and Israel based leader in power electronics.  He joined Enercon as a development engineer in the mid-‘80s, where he applied and expanded his experience in power design and manufacturing.  Avrutsky held a series of progressively more challenging engineering roles, specializing in the design, production and certification of power systems for the most demanding military and industrial applications - including renewable energy and space projects.

Mr. Avrutsky most recently reported directly to the Enercon CEO as General Manager of Engineering where he drove all technical aspects of engineering, manufacturing and customer support.  He brings vast experience in electrical, mechanical and thermal design; durability and reliability optimization; and compliance / acceptance testing to his position at Tigo.

Mr. Avrutsky received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from Ben Gurion University in Israel.

Tigo Energy builds hardware and software intelligence into solar energy installations, making them more efficient, more manageable, and safer. By maximizing the energy output of each individual module, Tigo’s advanced, balance of system products, deliver lower cost of ownership and a faster return on investment for existing and new solar installations. Started in 2007, Tigo raised six million dollars in a round led by Matrix and OVP Venture Partners, and successfully deployed alpha installations in Northern California in cooperation with two of the most prominent regional installers.
