According to a new study conducted by TheLadders, just in time for Valentine’s Day, the majority of Americans they surveyed are not in love with their jobs. In fact, only 11.7% have found the right corporate chemistry and are ‘really happy with this job.’ More than 255,000 job seekers on TheLadders—the most comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals—confirmed varying degrees of dissatisfaction with their workplace.
In the poll, 61.3% of job seekers who were asked to describe the way they feel about their current job admitted they are ‘actively looking for a next job,’ 19.0% claimed their ‘job isn’t awful, but not great,’ 3.9% ‘don’t know how much more of this gig can be tolerated,’ and 4.1% ‘want out of this job now.’ Despite the latest unemployment rate, which is currently at 8.3% and steadily trending downward, almost one-fourth of all job seekers (20.5%) surveyed stated they were “currently between jobs.”
