Somerville-based The Echo Nest said Thursday its music intelligence technology will now power streaming radio for Microsoft's Xbox Music.
The Xbox Music radio stations are now using The Echo Nest's Music Discovery and Personalization solution, as a way to enable Xbox Music listeners and Xbox One owners to create and customize artist radio stations.
The Echo Nest's technology is also used to power music services including Clear Channel's iHeartradio, Rdio, SiriusXM and Spotify.
Last month, the company announced it's offering technology for better targeting of ads on online music services.
The company uses machine-learning technology to leverage massive amounts of data about music, as a way to provide music services and device makers with intelligence about music content.
The firm has raised a total of $27.3 million in venture funding since its launch in 2005, last raising $17.3 million in July 2012. Backers include Matrix Partners, Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Norwest Venture Partners.
