Skyfire says it will hire at least 20 new employees this year for its Mountain View, Calif. headquarters. The 44-person company raised $8 million in January from Verizon Communications’ investment arm as well as existing investors including Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Founded in 2007, the company makes a mobile Web browser that it says enables users to do on a smartphone anything they can do on a personal computer. For instance, the browser enables easy viewing of Web video, said John Metzger, vice president of engineering.
Skyfire is hiring Android and iPhone application developers as well as engineers who can develop back-end server optimization. Engineers with experience in Linux, C++ and video delivery are particularly in demand. Technical employees earn between $120,000 and $150,000, Metzger said. The company offers equity to new hires. They’ll also be hiring sales people and product marketing professionals.
Metzger said the company values engineers who can work quickly and collaboratively as Skyfire pushes out new products and features at least once every five weeks.
He declined to specify the company’s revenue.
