Nokia Oyj (NOK1V) turned to The Echo Nest, a six-year-old U.S. supplier of music software, to supply the MixRadio application that comes with its new Windows Phones.
The MixRadio software can create customized streaming radio from the user’s music collection and Nokia’s catalog, Somerville, Mass.-based Echo Nest said in an e-mailed statement.
The Echo Nest, founded in 2005, is privately held by investors including Matrix Partners and Commonwealth Capital Ventures.
