Netezza CTO Named CIO Innovation Award Winner at 6th Annual MIT Sloan Symposium

Marlborough, Mass., — June 3, 2009 — Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ), the global leader in data warehouse and analytic appliances, today announced that Justin Lindsey, chief technology officer, is the recipient of the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium 2009 Award for Leadership in Innovation. The award recognizes Chief Information Officers and Chief Technology Officers for their ability to build an organization that fosters innovation, while supporting their company’s business strategy.
As the CTO, Lindsey leads the technology strategy, advanced systems research and development, and the advanced analytics business for Netezza. Lindsey was responsible for the design and implementation of a new product development model that enabled Netezza engineers to develop a data warehouse appliance that exceeded previous industry performance thresholds by more than 10 times. The Netezza data warehouse appliance is built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data significantly faster than existing data warehouse options, at a much lower total cost of ownership. The Netezza appliance provides scalability, simplification of complex reporting requirements and fast time-to-value on key business intelligence initiatives––enabling dramatic increases in productivity.

Prior to joining Netezza, Lindsey served as Deputy CIO and CTO at the United States Department of Justice where he guided the Department’s technology research and utilization of emerging technologies in support of DOJ’s mission. Prior to DOJ, Justin was the CTO for the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he helped shape the technology infrastructure for FBI’s core mission systems.
