Gilt Groupe Brings Luxury Group-Buying Site to Seattle

For Seattleites with a taste for the finer things in life, luxury group-buying site Gilt City has your back.

Gilt City, owned by the well-funded Gilt Groupe, rolled out its deals service to four new markets today, including Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas and Washington, D.C. This brings total coverage for the Groupon competitor up to 10 cities.

The service diverges from competitors by focusing on luxury goods and services from exclusive spas, wineries and restaurants. But, unlike Groupon, it doesn’t require a minimum number of buyers to offer the deal, and the deals are available on a weekly, not daily, basis.

The site was launched in 2010 by the New York-based Gilt Groupe, an exclusive site that sells luxury goods at deep discounts in limited-time “flash” sales. The company has raised $240 million in funding to date, including a recent round worth $138 million, and has over 1.8 million members worldwide.

Today’s Seattle deals include a personal training package for brides and five-course meals at both Purple Cafe and RN74.
