Fanfare Experiences Continued Growth Despite Economy

June 25, 2009

New Customer Wins, APAC Executive, and Product Propel Fanfare’s Growth Forward In The Face of Tough Economic Times

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—June 25, 2009— Fanfare, delivering innovative testing solutions to service providers (SPs), network equipment manufacturers (NEMs), and enterprises, today announced that the company has secured the second-largest deal in the company’s history with a globally recognized network equipment manufacturer. The customer, who cannot be named due to a confidentiality clause, signed the deal this quarter.

Fanfare also closed several other deals last quarter with large, global companies, and announced that BT selected Fanfare’s iTest®, the company’s flagship test automation product, as a key component of the strategic testing platform it is putting in place to automate complex system testing.

Last week, Fanfare also announced the addition of David May to its international team. May, vice president of Asia Pacific (APAC) operations, will oversee Fanfare’s operations in this region from the Tokyo, Japan office, as the company continues its worldwide expansion.

“Fanfare continues to experience significant momentum on a global scale, despite the economic downturn,” said Tom Ryan, President and CEO of Fanfare. “In fact, we have seen the level of interest in our products increase over the past several months, as companies look for ways to do more with less. The deals we closed in the last two quarters are testament to the value of our technology and the significant role it plays in helping carriers and equipment manufacturers to solve real business problems and attain their objectives.”

During a Fanfare-sponsored webinar yesterday, BT’s Brian Buege, Head of the Testing Centre for Excellence, discussed the changing business climate in the carrier market, the complexity involved in deploying LTE and next-generation networks, and how quality and time to market grow the top and bottom line.

BT implemented iTest, Fanfare’s flagship test automation software, enterprise-wide to standardize the communication of test assets across the company, as well as between BT and its suppliers. This deployment has resulted in significant reductions in costs and testing time required to bring new products and services to market.

“In order for carriers to deploy quality services on time and on budget, they must enhance their quality process in response to the changing business climate in which they operate,” said Theresa Lanowitz, founder of voke, an independent analyst firm. Voke recently recognized Fanfare as a 2009 voke Innovator. “Fanfare has proven itself to be a key component to any carrier’s quality strategy, and is well positioned from both an operational and technological perspective to help take its carrier customers to the next level.”

Fanfare was also the recipient of a 2008 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award, and Internet Telephony’s 11th Annual Product of the Year Award. Both are sponsored by Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC).

Earlier this month, Fanfare announced iTest 3.4, which offers significant improvements to core iTest functionality and features the industry’s first Virtual Testbed (VTB) capabilities. VTB significantly reduces costs and time to market for service providers and suppliers.

Fanfare’s iTest automates complex system testing required by carriers before launching new services to market, or upgrading existing ones, such as IPTV and VoIP. iTest also provides a unified communication platform that facilitates the sharing of test assets between carriers and their suppliers. Carriers must collaborate with their NEMs to ensure that new devices work properly with existing network devices before they are placed in the network. This process enhances the quality of products and services for subscribers, reduces time to market, and improves productivity across the entire product development and service development life cycle.
