GrabCad, now headquartered in Boston with offices in Estonia, has built an online community for mechanical engineers and their employers.

The company was awarded 10,000 euros for winning the competition, which recognizes innovation by Estonians in partnership with Americans.

The runner-up, awarded 5,000 euros, was the University of Tartu’s physics institute, which is working with the University of Michigan in developing digital devices to diagnose and monitor cataract and other eye diseases.

In his speech, Ambassador Polt noted the extremely high quality of submissions for the award and encouraged more Estonian innovators who have worked with US counterparts to enter the competition next year.

The finalists also included FitsMe, KPA Scientific, Let’s Do It, and ZeroTurnaround.
