Ditech Networks and Digium Enter Into Marketing Partnership Making Ditech Voice Quality Assurance Algorithms Available to AsteriskFebruary 02, 2011
Ditech Networks (NASDAQ: DITC | PowerRating), announced today that it has entered into a marketing partnership with Digium(R) Inc., creator and primary sponsor of the highly successful Asterisk telephony project, to make Ditech’s Voice Quality Assurance (VQA) algorithms available to the Asterisk developer community. Asterisk is an open source software platform that enables organizations to build their own PBXs. Asterisk and Digium customers are now able to download an easy-to-install software module for Asterisk VQA software from either the Ditech or Digium websites.
Ditech made the VQA algorithms available to the millions of users of the Asterisk Open Source Telephony Project back in October of 2010; however, with this new marketing partnership, Asterisk developers can now access Ditech’s VQA algorithms directly through the Digium website and pinpoint detailed issues within the voice path, including noise, echo, level mismatches, compression artifacts, packet delay and jitter. In network tests, VQA has been shown to improve average voice quality by up to 0.5 MOS points, which translates into a much improved calling experience.
“For over twenty years, Ditech Networks has been providing voice quality solutions to many of the world’s leading network operators and today we are proud to expand our reach by bringing VQA to the Asterisk community through our marketing partnership with Digium,” said Todd Simpson, President and CEO of Ditech Networks. “We are pleased to have Digium as our partner in making VQA available to the entire Asterisk community.”
“Ditech’s VQA software nicely complements the Asterisk platform by giving developers easy to use tools to understand and manage their voice quality,” said Rod Montgomery, Director of Services of Digium. “We are very pleased to now offer Ditech’s VQA directly to our Asterisk customers, giving them a solid software platform they can use to improve voice quality on their networks.”
Digium(R), Inc., the Asterisk(R) Company, created, owns and is the innovative force behind Asterisk, the most widely used open source communications software. Since its founding in 1999, Digium has become the open source alternative to proprietary communication providers, with offerings that cost as much as 80 percent less. Digium offers Asterisk software free to the open source community and offers Switchvox IP PBX software to power a broad family of products for small, medium and large businesses. The company’s product line includes a wide range of hardware and software to enable resellers and customers to implement turnkey VoIP systems or to design their own custom telephony solutions.
