Massachusetts-based hardware modeling company Carbon Design Systems Inc. has expanded to Austin.
The company’s local branch, which has not yet established office space, will be run by Brad Perdue, who previously worked for Atrenta and Australian Semiconductor Technology Co., company officials said in a news release. Officials plan to hire more workers over time.
Carbon Design Systems, which develops software tools to create virtual hardware models, received a $4 million investment from Samsung Venture Investment Corp. in September, the Boston Business Journal reports. The funds are meant to support development of electronic system level (ESL) design tools, including the company’s virtual prototypes.
The company, founded in 2002, employs 50 people. It also has offices in Silicon Valley and in Japan.
