Akorri Identifies Virtualization Performance Issues

August 23, 2010

Akorri, a provider of technology that manages virtual infrastructure performance and capacity for data centers, has released new automated predictive analysis software.

By allowing companies to automate predictive data center analysis, the new offering helps custiomers avoid outages and bottlenecks, among other potential problems.

The new software is part of an overhaul to Akorri’s BalancePoint suite of virtual infrastructure management solutions. BalancePoint Predictor for Storage is designed to detect and alert of disk contention issues that may be likely causes of physical or virtualized brownouts and/or downtime, as well as weak spots likely to suffer them.

In addition, an upgrade to BalancePoint’s disk utilization capability is designed to provide early warnings of overstressed disks. Meanwhile, new support for Microsoft Hyper-V, and support for VMware vSphere 4.1, is designed to allow users to manage both vSphere and Hyper-V with a single BalancePoint system.

Other upgrades include extended storage support for NetApp V-series, HP SVSP, and HDS Dynamic Provisioning.

Increasingly, distributed enterprises are supporting critical “real-world” applications and tools with virtualized infrastructures. This creates an increased demand on pooled resources, which in turn necessitates that organizations have a clear view into data storage and management.

Rather than wait for mission-critical storage issues and failures to pop up, enterprises are better served with visibility into potential problems. If Akorri’s new solution works as advertised, it should definitely hold appeal for enterprises that are moving increasing amounts of their IT architecture onto cloud-based infrastructures.
