Welcoming Eric Grosse and James Beriker to Matrix as Entrepreneurs in Residence

For decades, Matrix has hosted entrepreneurs and executives from our network as Entrepreneurs In Residence or Executives In Residence. Many of our successful portfolio companies, in fact, came out of incubation being done by EIRs in our offices. To that end, the Matrix team is pleased to welcome Eric Grosse and James Beriker as Entrepreneurs in Residence in our Silicon Valley office.

Eric brings with him extensive experience in consumer internet and user acquisition and he has an impressive mix of both operating and entrepreneurial experience. He was the co-founder of Hotwire, a leading online discount travel site acquired by Expedia Inc. At Expedia, Eric went on to become the President of Expedia Worldwide, the largest operating group of Expedia Inc. Eric was also the CEO of TaskRabbit.

James has been a founder and senior leader in several ad tech companies and has a long history of achieving successful outcomes. Most recently, James was the Vice President of Display Advertising at Yahoo, following Yahoo’s acquisition of Dapper in 2011, where James was CEO. Prior to Dapper, James was the President and CEO at Efficient Frontier, offering large search engine marketing (SEM) and social marketing solutions to advertisers and agencies, now part of Adobe Inc. James was also an operating executive at Value Click, following their acquisition of Search 123, where James was a co-founder.

We are excited to have them both on board here at Matrix where they will be help us identify and evaluate investments in consumer internet, work with existing portfolio companies and develop on new startup concepts. Welcome Eric and James!
